One-Day Experiences Costa Brava
Besalú Medieval and Jewish Tour with Tasting of Cured Meats, Ratafía and Wine
Discover Besalú, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Catalonia, on a small-group guided tour with a local guide. An experience that combines medieval heritage, Jewish legacy, and local cuisine in a unique setting.
We'll begin by exploring the iconic 12th-century Romanesque bridge over the Fluvià River, with its seven arches and access gates, one of the most emblematic images of the region. Next, we'll venture into the Jewish Quarter, where you'll learn about its history, cultural legacy, and importance in the Middle Ages, next to the ancient 12th-century mikvah, one of the few preserved medieval Jewish ritual baths in Europe.
We will continue our tour through the historic center of Besalú, with its cobbled streets and perfectly preserved medieval architecture.
During the tour, you'll enjoy a small tasting of artisanal sausages from La Garrotxa, accompanied by the traditional ratafía, a Catalan liqueur made with 40 herbs and green walnuts.
To round off the experience, we'll stop at the viewpoint to enjoy the panoramic views of the bridge, before heading to a local winery where you can taste a glass of DO Empordà wine, ending the tour with an authentically local experience.
